So we were bit by Spring fever and curiosity to see a luxury community in North Stamford, Windemere on the Lake. So, my husband and I ventured out to look at what we thought were several Open Houses in a planned luxury community in North Stamford, CT, piqued by photos and descriptions that looked amazing – beautiful lush greenery, a lake, property surrounded by a wildlife preserve of 74 acres, using green technology. a clubhouse, pool and tennis court, services with interiors using Wolf and Sub Zero, Christopher Peacock cabinetry, Marvin windows – you get the picture.
There were 3 that were advertised as “Open House 1 – 4pm” :
When we arrrived, there were in fact 3 of a total of 24 planned homes on the sub-divided property, however, only one had an open door – one available for immediate purchase – one real Open House. When we asked about the other 2 advertised Open House homes, the realtor attending the Open House, informed us that they were not yet built, but the homes that had been photographed, located to the left and right of the one that we were standing in were “occupied” and recently sold for $2.4 and $2 within 34 days or so. Nice.
We felt duped – and this did not instill confidence or an appreciation for having duplicate looking homes in this price range in North Stamford, within such close proximity (given the fact the land surrounding each home is approximately a third of an acre).
The art of the deal transcends all businesses, and more so in real estate than in many other professions. For the client, it's often an emotional purchase or sale, rather than a simple commodity or luxury item. I make it my mission to have each side come to terms with a transaction that works for everyone. It's not always easy, but good things in life usually take effort - something from which I've never shied.
Licensed since 2009 as a real estate sales agent in CT & NY, I often work with clients on the border of both areas.
With sales and distribution experience for luxury designer products, and watching/reacting to the markets, my acumen for sales was established. Achieving success and contributing to the growth of many global apparel designer brands, such as Giorgio Armani and Paul Smith for over 20 years, it was time for a change. I wanted to explore another passion that would keep me in one location rather than traveling the globe.
Now I have the best of both worlds, a successful business as a fulfilling personal life. My husband and I have lived in back country Greenwich since 2003, where we enjoy easy access to great biking, hiking and golf. We love to ski and that's usually where our travel takes us.
Life is good in Greenwich!
