More than ever, having guidance through a real estate transaction is so important. There are regional zoning differences, land use, neighborhoods and process that an agent can help buyers navigate. In addition, there should always be an understanding and commitment up front before any negotiations take place. The percentage and structure of the commission should be clearly understood and can no longer be advertised on the listing – on the MLS or otherwise. Even though the commission is a line-item debit for the seller at the closing, any cost related to the transaction affects the price, thereby affecting both sides.
