Greenwich has a new resident – an adorable baby giraffe! Petal’s baby was born on March 23rd at the Leo Zoological Conservation Center! Watch her take her first steps…it’s amazing! There are fewer than 670 of this rare breed, known as The Rothschild giraffe, named after the British zoologist, Lord Walter Rothschild, who discovered the breed during an expedition to Africa in the early 1900’s. The baby is the first giraffe to be born at the center, and will mingle among 5 others at the center…including 2 other mom’s to be 🙂
